The ones that give something are better than the others...lol...
Circus Circus Enterprizes usually only give the veggies. Harrahs always ponies up the noodles. Aztar Corporation is infamous for sauce or bread. Golden Nugget is awesome for salads. Call your local Pepsi or Coke dealer for free drinks. You can usually get doorprizes from the casinos who don't give food.
You just need to make a list ahead of time. Split it in half (ask two casinos for sauce, two for veggies, etc.). Be sure to have your numbers on hand (how many you plan to serve). Most will ask you for a letter. Tell them you will hand deliver the letters on a certain date. Ask who you can see. Follow up with a phone call to each after 2-3 days. Also, be sure to call the day before you need it and when it can be picked up and who to see. If you have a name, there usually are no hassles at pick up time.
OMG!!! You are in New Jersey!!! You shouldn't have to pay for anything! Ever! LOL!!! I don't know how close you are to Atlantic City, but here's the scoop even if it is miles and miles away: the casino's will do pretty near anything to keep NJ dollars in NJ. They would much rather donate whatever it is you need and have their name go home in all your backpacks than see people fly to Las Vegas to gamble. Trust me!!!
Casino's are always trying to find ways to help out in their communities. Even if you do not have a casino in your city or county, call the closest one to you. They are always willing to help out with school stuff. Especially dinners. I swear, I could spend the next half hour on the phone and end up with enough noodles, sauce, cheese, veggies, bread, salad (and dressings) AND a couple sheet cakes for desert to feed 500. Let me point out that there aren't any casino's in my city or county. There are 9 casinos within 75 miles though. I just get a bit from each of them and then advertise who donated what.
If you don't have any casinos within 100 miles, try piecing together what you need, i.e. get each supermarket in your area to donate X-amount of noodles, get the local restaurants each to donate a gallon of their sauce, get the local car dealership to donate $100 and buy salad fixings and whatever else you need.
You could also write a request to companies who make noodles and ask for a donation of noodles or whatever. You would need to explain what it is for and then advertise the hell out of it to be fair to them. I've never done it this way, but I'll bet it works. Just remember to write early, as it may take upwards of 6-8 weeks to put this plan into effect.
I don't know what part of th e country you are from, but if you go to www.stonesoupfundraising.com
and click on your closest city, there are fundraising ops. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is anything on the east coast, so if someone knows of a company willing to donate to the east coast, please post! (I'm a poet...)
Hi all, it has been quite a long time since I have actually contributed........but I read everyday- lol.
Does anyone know of a company that donates free spaghetti or pasta? I went onto the Mueller website and they no longer are running the program, unfortunately.........While we are at it, if anyone knows of any other free give aways, would you like to share? Thanks everyone!
