Katja--you can see our newsletter online at brentpto.com. Just click on the newsletter tab. The March one is from last year because I did a combined Mar/Apr but it'll give you an idea. All the others from Sep-through Feb are this years though...
Don't have any copies to share, but when I was Prez, I would write about what we had accomplished in the previous month, what was coming up in the next month, and any little tidbits I could think of about the group. I also thanked any volunteers who had worked recent events. Tried to keep it light, friendly, and short. Always ended with the next meeting date and time, any important agenda items, and the PTO website address.
We want to start a PTO newsletter for next year. My problem is that I do not have any ideas what I am supposed to write. Does anyone out there have a copy of a newsletter that they did and could share with me. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
That is a great idea. We are a new school and I started a newsletter this year, I am always looking for new ideas. I think the parents would really appreciate knowing about who their students will be getting in the up coming years also. I too put ours in .pdf format so I can upload them onto our Yahoo group website. If the parents don't receive their hard copy, they are able to read it at their convenience.
Yes--we did for a long time a "Let me introduce you to". We'd ask the person to write a bit about themselves like where they were born, hobbies, education areas of commonality with others and just general information. I would take that and rework it into an article format so that it seemed as though I'd interviewed them. It was great and brought out a lot of info on folks that others didn't know and found as a common point (I didn't know you were born in california). I think you still see some of these articles in our newsletters posted at brentpto.com (we stopped that feature a bit ago. All the newsletters posted are still from last year as we are having trouble turning our microsoft publisher newsletters into .pdf this year. Hope this helps.

I am in the process of writing a newsletter from our HSA. Since we are a brand new school I thought it would be a good idea to "spotlight" teachers in each issue. I want to keep it simple, but provide some useful information to help build a community feel. My question is, has anyone done this before? What types of questions do you think I should ask?
