PS,
I am thrilled that the piece has led to many writing letters. That is a great thing, and more powerful than you all can imaigine.
I am glad that some of you feel outraged. I have felt outraged for years!
Thanks for feedback and support. Here is the great news. This is the absolute first time that I can think of that we have gotten to show photos of bruised buttocks on national TV without getting part of the body covered up. That in itself is great.
I feel positive about the piece.
It is not up to a journalist to share an opinion or to slant, it is up to the viewer to draw conclusions. I don't think the journalists were slanted, they were fair.
I am certain that depending on which side of the fence you are on, you will percieve the segment in a different way.

He freely admitted that this "works" in his school because the kids are SCARED!! When he was there, the kids said they wold rather have "pops" (don't get me started on that moniker), but do you think they would REALLY prefer to be struck with that plank!? Did you get a load of that thing! I am so totally enraged- wrote that nasty note to The Early Show.
I need some coffee.

Missed the show this morning. Tried to watch the clip on the net, but ended up only getting sound-no picture. That was enough for me-I could only listen to half of it because I got so angry. Peggy, props to you-you were great!! But I am so appalled at the non-chanlant attitude given to this issue by the Early Show. This dude from Texas is really begginning to stick in my craw.
I'm off. Gotta right a nasty note to CBS & The Early Show.

and yes, cc is right, they didnt present opposing viewpoints. interviewed only the 'satisfied' parents and children. did they not find any 'dissatisfied' parents or kids, or didnt try to find any, or they all refused to be interviewed and if so why?
they should at the very least have explained why 'the other side' was not presented.
