We are allowed to address the board in a public forum section of the meeting, they won't give you an answer then and there but may make some comments and then get back to you. They also have a second forum that is at the end of the meeting so you may comment on anything that happened during the meeting. As far as The superintendent and higher up all of their email addresses are on on the district web page so anyone can e-mail them. I have always had good luck but then my husband is on the board so I am in a different position. For board members most of them have numbers in the phone book so parents can call and make complaints, comments, etc. My husband gets them quite a bit. As far as other districts around us some allow parents to speak and some don't.
can you all go to a school board meeting (they are all public) and ask questions freely and or speak? we have to submit our questions in writing one week ahead of time to the supt.
just curiuos if this logistic is SOP in america, or just in my neck of the woods.
tahnks for your kind words. i actually have enough material for a book, from my PTO and school experiences, will send you a copy one day when its finished!!
i am sure there are reasons i know nothing about, why the admin is so unresponsive to mediate matters of PTO and parents in general. and it can be nothing positive, so we let sleeping dogs lie.its about school, and not politics, from my perspective. so we focus onwaht matters, the kids, and try to forget the silly adult antics.
<volunteer> - After reading many of your post on these boards, I have to say I'm starting to feel pretty sad for you!!!
I am blown away by hearing you have a PTO, Admin Staff and BOE that don't allow questions or comments from parents.
There isn't a single teacher, admin person or BOE member that I couldn't call, email or send a letter to (at their home, I mean, not even through the school's channels)
Good for you, though for trying to find ways to stay positive and stay involved for your kids' sake!!!!!!
