Yes ,there is a law! Except Everyone was out of the office at Mich dept of ed for a retreat today!!!!!! tomorrow i'll find out....also a 4th grade teacher at the same'school' that he won't be teaching handwriting!!even though the school district says it is a standard!!! and the state. This place is THE worst!!!...........
I don't always feel it's ignorance. They get away w/ stuff because we the people are either too busy or don't know hw to find out what our rights are.I am slowly educating myself toward that.{with all of your [plural] help of course!!!
YOU GO GIRL!!! ferpa, FOIA,local board policies, US first amendment rights, on and on and on. this mom feels like shes gotten a JD while kid has gotten a Kthru8 degree!!! amazing what ignorance on the part of admin can do for raising public awareness to parent rights....the squeaky wheel gets the grease........
i've started an"improvement" website where i am telling district/admin. that i'll post the answers to my questions I've sent them.
Ahh the power of the internet.
I am hoping the big local paper will contact me.The freedom of info act and the [ferpa]family education rights and privacy act are going to have some fun!!!!The admin. is going to be busy filling out paperwork!! iwill not go away!! at least not quietly!!
how very sad that the same games go on seemingly everywhere, its not too comforting about misery loves company, i would rather see honesty integrity ethics morals in our school leaders and administrators and local press, thsoe in charge of guiding our kids to be the next generation of similar leaders...what are they learning from such pitiful examples.....the wrong messages.
When my school was closing, our local paper didn't run anything on it, other to say it was closing due to budget cuts then went on about the other cuts. They wouldn't even print a photo that I had taken of a bunch of our students on the rock climbers that we had just installed then found out 2 weeks later our school was closing. A reporter from 2 hrs. away came & interviewed me (pto pres.) & ran a story about the school. At least that paper is sold here. Small town, local paper.....
