when president Bush goes to a restaurant, is he viewed as just a customer? or is everything he says while eating, possibly attributed to him, later reported as , 'as said by Mr President while dining at four seasons yesterday evening.....'.
if you are gung ho to be a PTO leader, then PTO leader you are, in my opinion, and you must accept the responsiblities and that what you say MAY be attributed to voice of the PTO.
you cannot choose when your opinion is parental, and when it is as from the PTO. do you wear a button to let people know??
anyway, it doenst matter,i think there are many differnces among PTOs as there are shades of gray in this world. to each his own , and whatever works at your school, fine.
Hey, quick response. I am not so sure that is fair to the PTO leaders. As long as they are not talking about a principal in a bad way at a PTO meeting, or PTO event I think it would be OK. Otherwise they should be viewed upon as just a parent, that is if they are not doing PTO business. I say two hats [img]smile.gif[/img] and sometime 2 when/if they have to be a wife! Just like someone said earlier.

I'm confused, are you talking about a PTO mad at a principal or a parent mad at a principal?
I think what pals said makes a lot of sense, the part about where the PTO and the principal need to work together or lots of headache.
So the way I think it works is if a parent is upset with principal then that is a parent issue. If other parents want to defend the principal or take sides with the complaintant then a PTO member has the right to to choose a side so to speak. But this should not come up at a PTO meeting, that is not right. If public debate is waranted this should come up at a BOE meeting.
If there are people around school talking about something that has happened, don't worry, your school is not alone. Individuals are responsible for gossip, not a PTO.
