Tonight I am having my "Safety Night" program. There will be 2 speakers. One will talk about keeping our kids safe from predators. He is a former SWAT team member, and is currently a police dept rifle instructor. The other is a woman, black belt/self defense instructor who will teach women about safety.
I did a survey, and several want "Bullying" and "How to help your child succeed" and "Organizing your Home".
Hope that helps. Check out my previous post for many more ideas!

How about a speaker on ADHD and other learning disorders? I would personally like to attend something like that. Having a son with ADD, I know how little is known or understood about these children by parents and teachers alike! I would like to see this kind of topic draw LOTS of teachers as well. Since my son doesn't "bounce off the walls" or misbehave in school, teachers are surprised when I tell them he has ADD and needs certain accomodations. They know very little about ADD - Inattentive Type.
Thanks for the ideas. I think my problem is lack of parent participation. My first program had 25 parents, the last 2 had 12 each. Its a little discouraging. I sent home a questionnaire before school and about half said they would be interested in a program during the day. I will have one more evening program (Jan) then try a "Lunch and Learn" program. Probably will be an "Organizing" specialist.
Lisa, I hve found some great help through our city zoo and museum! Yeah! the classes were very informative and great, some even at the great price of FREE! We were able to get local companies to sponsor the class SO no cost to us! Worth all the paperwork!
We have also enjoyed the local police and fire dept comimg to speak to our classes with parents invited. I've even invited a Mom doind scrapbooking to talk- just talk no sales and had a great time....anymore it's not WHAT you know it's WHO you know!
