Question: School Police

I attended my first PTO meeting a the beginning of this month. As the meeting got underway I was surprised to be told Our School Police men are paid with the PTO funding. I Have searched for information on this as i completely dont understand why that would even be necessary. Is this correct? It doesn't seem logical since they are through the Police Department. Thank you in advance!

That's an interesting one. One would think they would be paid by the school department, not the parent group. You may need to do a little digging on this. It sounds like a situation where the PTO may had been asked to cover this cost -- perhaps it was not in the school budget -- and the situation has persisted. This is something that should be discussed by the group, however, and the topic of funding the police should be revisited. Rose
