Question: Official meeting?

Our PTO board members have changed this year. The new board and commitee members are meeting off site to brainstorm ideas for the coming year. There is nothing to be voted on. Would these be considered "official" meetings? Is an official meeting anytime the board meets or anytime a meeting is called to order?

It sounds like what you are describing is more of a retreat/brainstorming session. As long as the group doesn't conduct business -- hold a vote, make a decision about spending a big chunk of cash -- then it's not an official meeting. It is also a great idea! Good luck!
