Can a current president remain in office for longer than 2 years if no one else steps up to run?

I'm assuming your bylaws have a 2 year max in them. We were faced with that situation last year. No one stepped up, so the President said she would stay in place until someone could be found, hoping that someone would step in over the summer. No such luck. So she is still the President. It's against the bylaws, but no one is complaining.

We give the current person the opportunity to stay. If they don't want to then we open up the position to others. Sometimes one will say that they'll take whichever position is left.
