Question: PTA Board serving as PTO Board
Our school community voted at the end of the school year to transition from PTA to PTO. We are not financially prepared to dissolve our PTA and will begin the school year functioning as a PTA supporting our school while we build our PTO. Can the principal make a motion that the existing PTA Board serve as the PTO Board for this school year while we get PTO organized (bylaws, bank accounts, etc....)? The existing board has agreed and I don't forsee resistant from the school community.

Craig writes:Yes, the PTA board members can hold the same positions on the PTO board. You should hold a PTO meeting and have elections to make it official.
