Question: Redistricting

Our town has seen rapid growth in the last 5-10 years. Our school corporation has been forced to open 2 new elementary schools in the last 7 years. We are opening another this fall and need help with transitioning our PTO's (because some current board members will be moving schools). Each elementary school has it's own PTO (so one will be brand new), but we are governed by one executive PTO for the school corporation. We just got our own PTO's at our last elementary school opening, so we have never had to transition before. ANy advise on the transition?

Redistricting is always tough for everyone but can also be seen as a great new beginning. It's great that you have an executive PTO - there will be consistency with the leaders through that group. You might consider each of the PTO's making a donation to the opening school so they have some seed money to get started with. Of course all of this would be based on what is reasonable and affordable to the various schools. This would be a discussion for the executive PTO and the presidents at each of the schools.
