We just had an awesome Teacher/Staff Appreciation event. We based it around the Oscars. We made signs for each teachers door that looked like a sign on a STARS dressing room. Then we had a walk of fame. Each teacher had their own star that we taped to the ground and the kids were told to find their favorite teachers/staff members stars and sign them. They LOVED this. Who would have thought that the kids would have enjoyed something so simple. The we had a (fake) red carpet leading in to the staff lounge where we had appetizers that were named after oscar nominated movies. Example-Million Dollar Meatballs, Lemony Snicket's Lemon Bars, Harry Potters Magic Bars, The Aviators Dip that will send you Flying, The Incredibles deviled egg sandwiches, ETC..... It was a lot of Fun and enjoyed by all! One of our most successful hospitality events.
Hi Cathryn -- ohmygosh ... alohafriends.com is a WONDERFUL site. Thanks so much for the tip. This is actually a joint teacher and staff appreciation that I am trying to prepare for in May. I'm looking at around 100 people so I'm a little concerned about how much "meat" I will need to feed everyone. Could be cost-prohibitive. I'm working with just $350 so I have to watch my pennies.
pwalther -- I will definitely be in touch to find out how to make these items. My name is Debbie ( in case you see a strange ID). You have definitely inspired me with your ideas.

Don't be discouraged. My name is Cathryn. I found an awesome website. It is called www.alohafriends.com. This website translates names into Hawaiian, which we placed on name tags along with lais that we purchased in bulk from www.orientaltrading.com.and
presented to all of our staff members . We served a complete luau breakfast (fresh fruit, coffee, tea and fruit juices). Consider recognizing all of your staff members and not just your teachers. Good luck and please feel free to contact me whenever you need help or advice.

The butterfly cake was made with a sheet cake. It gives instructions on how to cut the pieces and put them together to be a butterfly.
