Well, I've been working with our staff for 5 years now and they would eat the candy off the poster even if they have the same candy in the bowl. You or I wouldn't do this, but some people just don't seem to think like us and they have no clue how long it takes to hunt down that candy and put it all together and make it nice. I know it's disappointing. Maybe you could write what was supposed to be there under the candy so people could still enjoy the thought or even write "___ was stolen from this spot" so they know what happened. This is the exact reason why I am extremely reluctant to do something like this.

We made a candy peom poster for our teachers too. We hung it in the teacher's lounge for Monday morning. Before the day was up, several peices of candy had been eaten off the poster. We also had taken a bowl of the same type candy to put on the table in the lounge, which was all gone the first day. I understand the bowl of candy, that's what it was for, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed that before the first day was up they had eaten the candy off the poster. We spent a couple of hours making the poster and had hoped it would at least make it through until Friday!!
Does anybody else think it was kind of rude of the teachers to do this on Monday? My husband is on staff at another school and said he would never had eaten the candy off the poster, but he talked to several other staff members there, who said they would have. I guess maybe I just don't get it.
Thanks for the ideas. I have taken the sign down for this year and will try again next year with the empty candy wrappers on the sign.
smenny13 believe me I am pretty upset about the whole situation. I thought it was common sense not to eat the candy on the first day. Guess I was wrong. My other officers think I should have put a sign up saying Please don't eat the sign until Friday after 3:40 p.m. (That is what time school gets out.)
Another idea is to just use the candy wrapper on the sign. Then you could purchase any kind of candy to put in a bowl for the teachers. The candy they eat wouldn't necessarily have to match the sign.
