I live in Northern California and fundraise for both school and little league events. One of the most generous cities to offer donations is San Francisco. I can usually put two prize packages together with all the tickets and such we get from businesses in and around PIER 39 and Fishermen's Wharf, plus other businesses throughout the city and Bay Area. I am astonished every year by their generosity. And these packages raise lots of money!
Just google San Francisco PIER 39 and Fishermen's Wharf and you can get the names of businesses to email. There's usually a single page with all the businesses you can click to.
The walmart folks gave me a handout for local community contribution, you have to send a request to the walmart foundation. Target says you either mail a request or bring one in and they will review applications every several weeks. I'm guessing they got way too many requests locally?
What kind of organization do you raise money for? Our school is within walking distance of a train station. I have filled out the online app 3 years in a row...and have never had a reply from Amtrak:(
