Has anyone gotten and used the Salem Witch Musesum family pack? i got an email from them that says to use the email as the voucher but it has my name on it so i'm concerned if we use in an auction the recipient will be unable to use it. there isn't a certificate number, just a generic email. curious if anyone has used it and been successful. thank you!

It can be done in a two month time frame MillieD. It will just take some knocking on doors. I've had various results. Some places will hand you a donation on the spot. Some will take months before they give you a yes or no. Local places usually need the shortest lead time. There are a lot on online requests you can put in that don't take much time to do but the response time is longer. I'd say 70% of my yes responses have come in the last month prior to the event. Good luck to you.

Hi MillieD!
This would also depend on your community and how big of an event you are planning. It isn't unusual, as folks here on this thread have shared, to get a good amount of "no" replies. It is definitely helpful to reach out to local businesses and make in-person visits to them if you can fit that into your schedule. We have a couple of resources you may find helpful: Finding Donations for your School, www.ptotoday.com/pto-today-articles/arti...ons-for-your-auction, and Donation Request Letter, www.ptotoday.com/filesharing/document/18...ation-request-letter.

Good luck!

If it helps, I've heard that a 10% positive rate is the norm. After several years of doing this, that seems to hold true for me. Obviously the more people you see, the better your chances of getting a yes.

I'm curious as to how many cold call solicitations committees are making for their auctions. Our event is in April and I'm starting to get worried now that a lot of no's are coming in and we haven't had too many people volunteering to make calls or walk in to places and ask. I've seen people saying 10-20 a day...300 to 400 total...etc. I'm wondering how far behind we are. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!

For those of you who've been posting on this thread, you'll note the name change from Ultimate Donation List 2015 to simply, Ultimate Donation List. We adjusted the name because we wanted to keep things simple for you. Going forward, I will bump up some of the lists that folks have posted in previous years along with helpful links from our site on auction planning, getting donations, contacting businesses, and thanking donors.

Also, please let us know what kind of information you need! We'll do our best to get it posted on this thread.

All the best everyone!
