We request a lot from local businesses and also reach out to larger regional and national companies. We also offered sponsorship opportunities last year and got $1500 which we used to buy supplies, products to help fill baskets etc.
Most of the requests are done online/email but I do still send out a lot of letters by snail mail.
I find it helps to go in with a plan. We try to have 2-3 destination auctions. Once we pick some regions I go online to request donations from hotels, restaurants, shops etc. The Convention and Visitor Bureaus are also very helpful. For these donations I customize my request to reflect the package that we are putting together.

I have been running a tricky Tray in Central NJ for about 11 years, and it grows every year. this is my last year and i want it to be biggest and best. Every year, think of a new 'angle' to try to reach out to, and I am kinda stuck this year. I have added onto the list in the past few years:
Bed & Breakfasts
Fishing/campground (not much luck, maybe due to time of year)
breweires
Wineries
Box-of-the Months clubs
Can someone kindly email me a copy of the list? I want to help with my schoolh fundraiser. My email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
