One more idea I wanted to share...We were offered a limo ride for one winner and 4 friends to AND from school by a local funeral home! The owner of the business was the driver, and he supplied treats both in the morning and afternoon! This went for a lot of money. And, NO, it wasn't a hearse -- it was a limo!
Some of the items which made the greatest profit for our school were "teacher-donated" items. This year every classroom teacher donated of their time and talent, as well as all the "special" teachers (art, music, gym). We also had several IA's and other resource teachers donate. Most of the "events" took place after school one afternoon for 1-2 hours.
One grade level did "Movie and a manicure" -- All the teachers helped with the afternoon...There was one winner who would invite 4-5 friends.
Another teacher donated two "knitting lessons".
The PE teacher donated archery lessons AND rock-climbing sessions (we have a rock-climbing wall in the gym).
The music teacher donated recorder lessons and the art teacher donated a two-part clay class.
Our OT/PT donated a handwriting class...One grade donated "ActivBoard" time.
All of these items made close to $2000!
We changed it up from last year in that, with the grade level events, there was only one winner among the four classes. On the night of the auction, several moms could agree to chip to try to win the event.
When I first started doing the auction, it was hard to get teachers to agree to contribute -- I think a lot feared their donation wouldn't go for a lot of money. NOW, they see that just an extra hour or two makes the PTA lots of money!

A great idea we are doing this year is auctioning off a bedtime story read by your teacher. It's free and the kids would love it!!
Another idea we did last year is to auction off a front parking space for the year.
This site is incredible and has really helped me out! Great ideas. Keep them coming. Our auction is the first week in March so I keep checking back for incredible ideas! Thanks everyone!
Just received confirmation of Disney for 4 one-day park hopper passes valued at $544! I filled out form and was honest - using for school auction.
Also received yesterday - box of goodies from Stampin Up, two autographed books by Mary Higgins Clark, Dicks Sporting Goods and Keurig
I only knew I was getting the Keurig - the other people never responded to emails - the items just showed up!
Good Luck everyone!
I'm still filling out forms and resubmitting - our Card Party is in March and some of the people we emailed early on - we are sent again after January - a new donation year - and now getting approved!
Remember there are a lot of companies that still required snail mail - just mail the forms and include SASE - if you do they are more likely to respond.
