Hi! I just started planning our event which will be in Oct. I was so excited to find out we got the Disney passes. I am in Northern Westchester County about 40-minutes outside of NYC...if anyone has any good NY resources PLEASE let me know
Thanks
Jenn
MK - Imagination Movers donated a small child's tshirt, CD, sticker, and autographed photo. I found the address here somewhere and wrote a letter - Imagination Movers, PO Box 56263, Metaire, LA 70055-6263.
The young moms were excited about this one. My kids are past the right ages, so I'd never heard of them.
We've probably seen the last of the national donations, since our auction was initially scheduled for 4/30 (lost venue, so date moved back a week after all the letters went out). It's been a great surprise, though, at how many items or gift certificates arrived just from sending a letter or email. Just this week, we received donations from Fathead, Oriental Trading, Eric Carle, Newman's Own, Imagination Movers, and Shutterfly, none of whom I would have thought to contact without this list. Thank you all!
Our auction was last Saturday; we made a total of $18,000 off our auction from table bidding, internal raffle of 1 week of school tuition and ticket sales for 150 (with 15 being comp tickets, so a total of 135 paid; we capped ticket sales b/c of venue capacity). Considering we are a private preschool, we feel we made as much as possible from our auction, considering our target audience.
The venue was awesome (high end bowling alley/martini bar); people bowled, ate, drink and bid on over 90 packages. People were amazed at the variety of items we had at this year's auction which solely due to this thread. People were amazed at the Eric Carle and Jan Brett signed posters!
The AirTran tickets went for quite a bit of money since the word had already gotten out that AirTran was being bought out by Southwest next month which is one of the largest carriers out of St. Louis. We split up the Disney, Orlando lodging and airline tickets into 3 separate packages and actually had 3 separate purchasers for the packages. You definitely get more money out of splitting these three packages up instead of selling it together as a "Disney" package.
We are already thinking about the 2011-2012 auction and what we will be doing differently next time around.
