My friend is reaching her 5 year mark from breast cancer in June. She had to have a mastectomy and has had a couple of small scares thinking it may have come back but I'm happy to say that so far so good. I plan on throwing a big party for her in June to celebrate. (I lost my husband to esophageal cancer several year ago so I know to a certain extent what all of you go through) I regularly visit the site and forward it to others and will continue to do so. You are in my thoughts and prayers!
I'll be there signing. 10 years ago my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing a radical mastectomy and chemo, she is totally healthy. I found out she hadn't had a mammogram in years and had been ignoring this odd concave spot in her upper chest for quite awhile. Every woman needs to do regular self exams, have yearly exams by a doctor and have those mammograms! A few moments of discomfort can save your life.
My prayers are with you on your road to winning your battle.
Please go to the Lifetime TV website and sign the petition for Mastectomy Bill in congress.
I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer myself and although I will be getting 6 months of chemo to hopefully reduce the lump.....I may still be forced to look at having a mastectomy.
I did not do my breast exams and I was 6 months late with my mammogram. I am only 44.
