Wow, Shawn, you had a lot on your mind last night!

I remember being tought to respect any position of authority when I was growing up. Sometimes you respected the position, sometimes the person and (when it's good) both. It took quite some time in my adult life to realize that some authority needs to be questioned.

I hope justice prevails for your aunt and your family. To allow a family to believe it was suicide is almost more cruel than the murder itself. Suicide has a devasting impact. Murder absolutely does too but the guilt that comes with suicide is nearly unbearable.

Ok 8+ yrs ago aunt (not blood related) dies of overdose in sleep, husband gets married to woman (whos separated but not divorced yet) down the street six mos later (now 6 kids undr the age of 5 from 2 families living under one roof) guys a lawyer he can afford it right?, two days ago same guy arrested for drug trafficking, money laundering (clients paid in cars, TV's etc for lawyer fees plus drugs allegedly), credit card scam and heres the kicker Attempted murder trying to allegly overdose 2nd wife..... Makes ya go hmmmmmmm

No more politacl phone calls, PTA BS about raising cigarette prices so kids wont smoke (guess the reasoning is if the tax is added... now they cant afford it -- they're already $4+ a pack!!!!- I smoke) and can have medical insurance (get rid of the freeloading illegals and their naturalized children... POOF No over crowded classrooms, no supersized spending on ESL.... no extra healthcare... no oversized spending on education... then the 233,000 (52% whom are illegal) # of children can drop lower and they'll have healthcare) I'm gonna scream!!!! adding a frigging tax aint gonna solve @#$% !!!! When we cant separate the Rank or Position from the Person?
We used to discuss this in the Military all the time. 1sgt so and so as a person is an absolute boore but as a military commander he was a tactical and motivational wonder. We hated his guts off base and when on hardtop but would've watched his back and/or knew he'd keep that bullet from taking us.

GW is my President and I admire him for that (plus I'm a staunch Republican) but sometimes he's just got no common sense, that still means I should respect the President of the United States but not always him (although I will at least try to, anyway)

So it turns out the president is coming to town this weekend. My oldest heard this and asked if we could go see him speak. I asked him why he wanted to go (he's 10). He said because it's the president and who knows if I'll ever get to see another one. As I thought about it, this President has been to town 1 other time, the one before him came once (before my son was born) and, before that, I was younger than him when a president was here. But it got me thinking, when do you grow out of adoring the leader of our wonderful nation and go to questioning their every thought and action? It seems like it happens overnight. I can't even place it in my mind.

We have a McDonald's just down the street from the local Amry office and my oldest told my husband the last time we went that the only reason I let them go inside that one is because the military men eating lunch there have good manners. My husband just gave me a weird look and told my son I was hoping the manners would rub off on them. But it is the truth, they do have the best manners-hold doors and say proper things-as well as being great eye candy in their uniforms while my kids are playing in the play place for hours.
I learned the "Bless their heart" trick from my grandma and great aunt at a very young age. Just like anything else, if you soften the blow, the beating doesn't always feel like one. Or as my principal needs to figure, basic constructive criticism at it's finest.
CC-there is nothing like a girly day to make you feel great. I managed to fix my hair and face today (something reserved for special occasions) and people kept telling me how nice (or happy) I looked today.
