We got about 2 inches of snow last night and it's just right for building a snowman. Too bad I messed up my back slipping on some of the ice leftover from the last storm and am stuck on the couch. Such is life.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

All the snow is 'having an effect', to put it nicely, on people around here. I can honestly say that the majority of people I know are very grumpy (using nice terms here). I have made the decision not to attempt going out and pretty much hibernate until Monday. Hopefully kindness will make a come back on Monday.
Hope everyone else is doing okay ... there are some nasty weather patterns out there. Irish Coffee for everyone!

D-you crack me up. If it makes you feel any better, one of my friends spent 2 years (Navy) in Italy and said if you called the place where he was stationed and didn't know your extension, you could be on the phone 5 minutes just listening to the "main" languages offered. I remember complaining about this very thing in a class a few semesters back and the teacher chose to enlighten me that if we lived in a lot of countries, they have 50+ dialects of the main language and they are very different and all in the same country. We went on to say that Americans are very snobbish and almost lazy about learning and this includes languages. I was started to get a little frustrated with this guy thinking he was personally making a jab at me but he went on to say, that's what makes us so great, we are so lazy we make everyone else prove they can learn our mixed up language to survive here! This also reminds me, I caught a few minutes of Hogan Knows Best (My oldest loves it for some reason) and they've just moved to Florida and they can go in GNC and Subway and the people don't speak or seem to understand English and get frustrated trying to make him understand what they are saying. It was really funny to watch but made me never want to live in Florida.
It is strangely quiet in my house. I should probably pull myself away from the computer and figure out who has gotten in to what and how they are going to try to hide it from me. :)

I'm here...

Okay--
#1--I should not have to press ANYTHING on my phone to hear the message in ENGLISH (I'm not trying to get Shawn started but let's say in France--do you think you'd have to press 1 to hear things in French?)

#2--I shouldn't have to hire folks to do my taxes. Figuring out what I owe the government or vice versa shouldn't be someone's livelihood....

Now I do BOTH of those things...maybe I'm just dumb...
and if I was in France I still wouldn't need to press anything else, or Germany for that matter.

Ah well--hubby's birthday so we are cooking steaks as big as our heads and having wine before dinner. Woo hoo...
