CC-That is awesome! I just ordered some for my group. We have been slighty grouchy about some school things lately. What a cool thing!
Sorry to hear about the house. I know how excited you were.

I had the coolest thing happen last night. I went to 2nd grade with a girl and we were best friends instantly. She moved away but moved back when I was in 6th grade and again we were best friends. At the end of that year, she moved again, and then we moved so I never knew what happened to her. We tried mailing each other and in all the moving, lost each other. I haven't seen or heard from her in 22 years. And she is one of those people who I will occassionally think about and wonder about. Well, SHE FOUND ME!! She used the internet and the library to find my parents and then my married name and then me! How awesome is that! And she still has letters that I wrote to her and a bookmark that I mailed to her. I've just been so amazed. I knew how much she touched my life but never realized that I had touched hers so much. Neither of us had stable home lives and she was just so like me. We giggled all the time about thinking and saying the same things. We are going to try to meet soon. I am so excited.

Everyone have a great day--off to do some cleaning--mother in law comes in tomorrow.

Hey, this is perfect timing! There's a great article in the most recent People magazine "Thou Shalt Not Whine: A Missouri pastor challenges his flock to give up griping for three weeks and ignites a worldwide response". It mentions www.acomplaintfreeworld.org where you can go to order free purple plastic bracelets. I just went there and ordered 5 (free!) bracelets. If I were still a PTO president, I'd order a lot more than that and start handing them out at meetings!!!! ;)

Now I need to do some reading on their website to see what it is that they're up to.....

OK, then, I'll quit whining. And will keep encouraging my son to hand write those thank you cards!

It's a sunshiny day here in Alabama. Hubby is working from home and we just got back from having lunch together. I'm starting to like this working from home thing! I won't know what to do when he moves back into a real office.

IF my kids get thank you cards at all, its from the parent of the birthday child, handwritten by the mother, saying 'dear (name of invited kid), thank you for the gift, I loved it, love (name of the kid whose birthday it was) signed also by the mom.

These are from kids who are old enough to write. I use it as a lesson in tackiness, tell my kids this is how you ARENT supposed to do it.

As for weddings and no thank yous, or lame thank yous, thats probably exactly the reason why the 'wedding crasher' boom got started - crashing weddings of unknowns just to eat and socialize.

Its not about the persons any more, attending or even those getting married, its just the materializm boom all around it. Better to elope. Cheaper for the parents too.

Silver SPoon etiquette on anther thread needs to target not the kids, but the parents.

AHHHH-I still do thank you cards, and I send out about 85 holiday cars with letters and personal notes at the end (not unusual for folks to get them in January). I'm also teaching the boys to do the same things so don't give up...there are folks out there trying to keep ahead of the slowly dissolving aspects of life that set us apart from fungus...d

I am with Cotton on this ... Thank you cards (for any event) have gone along the wayside right with Holiday cards. We haven't been to many weddings lately but of those we have the thank you card was just as 'processed' as the invite rsvp card ... to be honest typically only the bride signs from what examples we have. It's sad really ... you spend time trying to get a great gift and all you get is a generic thank you.

Well it's Friday everyone! Any great plans? Our family's sole plan is to relax and watch the snow melt this weekend ... it's 51 here today ~ yippee!
