I like the idea of doing the contests during event-- Even if you want judges instead of audience-- just announce what contest you are doing -- tell the kids to come forward if they want to play-- love most colorful socks-- dingiest- if you are giving prizes-- make a small fake tide box with the prize in it for dingiest-- also have everyone line up and anyone with tie-socks steps forward-- these are fun socks-- but this is an easy win game-- you'll only 1 -2 people wearing these. Good luck-- sounds like a lot of fun!
I think the kids would get a huge kick out of your contest idea!
You could have it be an audienced judged event:
Designate a time for the contest(half way through event maybe) and have everyone sit down. Call for contestants to come forward one category at a time and model their socks. Hold your hand over each contestant's head and have the audience applaud and cheer for the who they feel is the winner in the category. Have a couple of adults help make the decision as to who got the loudest response, unless you can find someone with a decibel meter.

You could just have it be an audienced judged event. At a certain time(say half way through the event) announce that you will be having the sock contest. Have everyone sit down and then call forth anyone who wants to participate in each category(one category at a time). You can then have the contestants model their socks and then hold your hand over each contestant's head and ask for applause from the audience as to who they feel the winner is for the category. Loudest audience response is the winner. You might want to have a couple of other adults help with the decision of who got the loudest applause, unless you can find someone with a decibel meter!!
That sounds like fun. You could have these categories - dingiest socks, craziest socks, holiest socks, ugliest socks. Judges could be teachers and/or PTO members.
Hi there. Our school is having a Sock Hop tomorrow night and I keep going back and forth about having contests like "most colorful sock, longest stock, etc). The reason I am unsure is I don't know how we would be able to judge them. If 100 kids come, how would they enter, who would judge? If you did this, how did you organize it?
