Our PTO hosted our first pancake breakfast this fall. It was a huge hit. The dad's cooked the pancakes and had a lot of fun. IT was a great way to get more dad's involved. Krusteaz pancake mix is sold at Costco and they will rebate your organization up to 50% of what you spend on their mix. IHOP donated syrup and we had coffee and tea donated. Our school has 350 kids. We had close to 400 people at the breakfast and made about $1500.

Another Michigander. I'm from the Flint (Kearsley/Davison) area. Same problem here. Looking for new fundraisers that the parents don't have to "sell". Our golf outing this past May was a great hit!
Hi, we are a small elementary school also. We actually do a Pancake Breakfast at Apple Bee's restaurant. We sell the tickets for $5 a piece ahead of time and at the door. The Principal, teachers and PTO all volunteer and we are the wait staff. The crew at Apple Bee's open early on a Sat. morning and they make the pancakes and supply coffee and juice. The pancakes are unlimited as well as the drinks and I believed we made $3 off each ticket sold.
The children loved being served by the school teachers and the Principal. It was also a great way to talk to families about getting out and joining the PTO. If you don't have an Apple Bee's near you, you could possibly work something out with a local restaurant.
It was really a great fund raiser and we all had such a great time. We are doing it again in Jan. I wish you good luck!!

Our high school football team did a pancake breakfast this fall. They actually hired a pancake man. He came with his own huge flat bed griddle and a gizmo that poured 6 perfect pancakes at a time, spaced just right, automatically onto the griddle bed. He had a helper who was responsible for mixing the batter and browning the sausage. The guy was a bit of a showman and flipped the pancakes thru the air, much to the delight of the guests. I don't know his fee, but you might be surprised to find someone like him in your area if doing it all yourself isn't practical.
