We received a grant through "Reading First" which is a federally funded grant.

We paid $400.00 to have the author visit us.

The name of the company is Read with Ease and the website is www.readwithease.org

and since you've already been funded, if you wouldn't mind sharing the lead for the grant money?:)

Your idea sounds great and we would love something new to try. TIA

What company did you get the Reading Pals from? And was it expensive to have the author come to your school?

That is fabulous! I've been coordinating a reading incentive program for two years now and it's great to see how excited the kids can get when you come up with a way to make reading more fun. Anything a school or parent group can do to motivate kids to read is well worth the effort. Great job and keep it up!!!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Hi all,

I've been reading posts for about a year now and just wanted to add my 2 cents. Our school just had a Reading Pal event. We were kind of hesitant at first, but we were able to use grant money for Reading, because we had the author come out to read the book, and all of the kinds signed a commitment card to read 30 minutes each night. The parents and the principal signed the cards too. All of the students at our school (345) were able to get a pal.

On this past Friday, the students were allowed to bring their Reading pals in and a list of some of the books they have been reading, and the parents said that the motivation to read has been through the roof. You should have seen the pals some were dressed in clothes, some had bows ribbons and some even had the students clothes on it ties off with rubber bands.
