I agree. Meanwhile, they get 20 min. of PE a week. I know there are a lot of classes to fit in in a week, but come on! As sort of an aside: My son is 5 & perfectly normal size, but at his last dr. visit, his weight/height ratio was weird. He is sort of bordering on under weight. He has a VERY rigorous appetite (he is constantly eating), but I to feed him nutricious food & he loves to play outside. One of my girlfriends is a FNP & she said they keep changing the norm for w/h ratio because so many kids are getting so heavy. This disturbs me.Originally posted by <beignets&coffee>:
part of the discrepancy may come from this: the wellness policy is govt issued, political, 'face saving' ie look how hard we are trying to combat obesity etc etc etc and the school lunch program is heavily influenced by agribusiness, lobbies, and the convenience food industry trying to brand or groom the next generation. at least, the latter is what the movie SUPERSIZE ME would have one believe. its at the public library, check it out! eyeopening movie, NOT for kids.
