We are having our Open House on Sept. 5 and the PTO has decided to host an ice-cream social. This was a last minute decision but we're hoping it will draw more parents to the school. We plan on meeting in the auditorium where the principal and PTO pres. will address everyone briefly. Then parents are welcome to tour the school and visit rooms such as the computer lab, special ed. rooms, etc. that they haven't seen before. All teachers will be in their classrooms to greet parents and answer any questions.
We are going to have the ice-cream set up on the front breezeway of the school. An idea was given for the PTO to purchase bowls, spoons and ice-cream but for each teacher to donate one topping of their chose to save on our cost.
Does anyone have any advice or ideas that would help us out? We have never done this before. We haven't hosted anything like this involving the whole family at a free event and I have no idea how many people will attend! I feel kinda rushed but also excited at seeing how it turns out.
Oh......we are also setting up a table with all kinds of info on the PTO and things that we do for the school along with committee sign-up sheets and volunteer info. Plus we'll be selling school tee shirts.
Any other suggestions?
