GAMom, your room parent stuff is out of this world. Emailed our principal with the room parent idea and she LOVED it. She said that some of our teachers do, and some don't! She is wanting to see involvement increase and we are going full steam ahead with the room parent idea. Thanks for your help.

Re: what goes in a notebook for room mothers..
I created one when I was President of our organization. I had been a room mother for 6 years and just tried to think like I had never done it before.

The most important things I stressed were to keep in good contact with your teacher and your other room mother (if you have one, we always have two per class). The teachers at our school generally give room moms the "heads up" about what they need. For example, at our school, we actually have a room mother fund that pays for certain expenses. We're a private school and we have an "allowance" of $12 per child. This helps defray some expenses--class parties and such.

In the "room mother booklet", we included a list of all room mothers in the school, any reimbursement forms and a couple of pages detailing what they need to do....every school is different so try and find a seasoned room mother volunteer and get some ideas.

We also have a room mother meeting before school starts to give further info and to pass out the booklets.
HOpe that helps!
