I attended a variety show for a youth group and they did their own version of Whose Line Is It Anyway. As we entered the building we could put down ideas for the "Scenes from a Hat" bit. They also did some of the other bits from that show. Then they mixed in some music, a hilarious magic show, and lots of other things.
We came up with this idea due to the popularity of ABC's show. Our opening act is "Dancing with the stars.... of Greenwich". We have 6 parent volunteers and we have asked 6 people from our town (mayor, police chief, fire captain, recreation dept. pres.,superintendent of schools, captain of rescue squad) to be our "stars". Each couple will dance for a minute or so. We thought it would be a great way to bring the school and the community together, as well as a fun spoof on the TV show.
In college my husband and a buddy did "Born to be wild" while riding big wheel bikes! Now both men are well over 6 feet tall so it was too much!
But it was the party we went to last year that was hte best. For fun, this couple hosts a show with friends and family performing. My husband was Elvis (yes, white jumpsuit and hair!); their son was Tom Jomes ( OH MY !); their granddaughter did a true hula dance; Sonny and Cher were there; a one eyed one horn flying purplr people eater performed ( that was the funniest!) and to start the evening a group of kids did a hula dance .
OH don't forget the Soggy Bottom Boys! That was THE hit of hte night....then Tom Jones and Elvis!
Okay--we're doing the same in Feb--and here's what I'm thinking...
Drill team using wrapping paper (vis a vi our wrapping paper fundraiser)
Upsidedown chins singing Lollipop lollipop
and finally and what I THINK we'll do is from the Madagascar movie use the song "I like to move it move it..."
and have us all come out and have someone pass by with "September/October" and we all start "dishing" ice cream, happy, high fiving, hugging, November we do the "wrapping paper thing" (vision big boxes, moving them...passing out rolls of paper from one to another and off stage, grunting a bit), December...wrapped packages, jingle bells, hats (but getting a bit slower), January--all sit down at a table and drink a "martini", Feb--start passing pizza boxes (our pizza fundraiser) but a bit more grumpy...March/April...hanging Dr. Seuss dolls and laughing...(you know a bit more devious), May we're pushing each other and angry mad...and by June we're all falling down laying on top of one another in shere exhaustion....
so that's it...
our teacher's last year did a "Shark Bite thingie with the music too and that was fun....
