Check out SHC great family fun night game ideas under the "200 people attended our family fun night" posting. She offers some awesome ideas! Enjoy your evening!
Take all the families and divide them into two even(as close as you can get) teams. Everyone takes off their shoes and puts them in a pile(one for each team) at one end of the gym. Then everyone goes to the other end of the gym and when the starter says go, the first family in each team runs down, puts on their shoes, and runs back and tags off to the 2nd family and so on.. until one team is done.
The whole family must have their shoes completely on(tied, buckled, etc.) before they can run back(all together) and tag off to the next team.
The funniest part of the one we did the other night was that we had two dads who were wearing the exact same style shoe only one had larger feet. The first guy had put on one of his own shoes and one of the other guy's. When the bigger guy got down there, he couldn't get his foot in the small shoe!! The team realized the problem and the other dad kicked off his wrong shoe and a mom ran it down, collected the correct shoe and brought it back.
We just had our second family game night. Both this year's and last year's were very successful. We used just the games from the PTOtoday packet last year, but this year we used three of the game ideas, and also offered board games and bingo.
We requested RSVPs via a form we sent home. It wasn't required to attend, but it helped in giving us an idea of how many people were coming so we could plan games and food accordingly.
One tip--finish the night off with everyone participating in one of the relay games(we used the shoe relay). It was absolutely hilarious and everyone left the event in a great mood!
We are doing our first Family Fun and Games Night in two weeks. Did you use the games in the packet from PTO Today? How many people ended up coming? I'm getting nervous about how the event will "run" that night.
Did you have different games going all at one time?
Thanks!
