We've done A Family Fun Night (FFN). We had games throughout the building going on. We served pizza/drink from 6pm-7:30pm. Our FFN ran from 6pm-8pm If you would like a list of games we did, volunteer list... email me: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
When is your event? If you haven't done it yet, order the Family Fun and Games Night package from this site. It's wonderful-practically does all the planning for you!
We used the Family Game Night package from PTOtoday for our event last January and it was all "active" games such as relays, games with balls, etc. We had loads of fun, but there were a couple of people who asked about board games being a part of our next one.
For this year we're having games in the gym for those who want to get active and board games and bingo for those who want something more sedate. We are asking teachers to loan us games from their rooms and we may purchase some games to use and then give them away for bingo prizes.
We're serving dinner for a designated time period(because we need the space for bingo). It's up to the families whether they want to play then eat or eat first.
As for playing the board games: since it's a Family Night we're assuming that a whole family will sit down and play together or families may get together and play. We're trying to have board games that several people can play together, like Yahtzee, Candyland, some of the Cranium games. May even throw out some decks of cards and instructions on Crazy Eights and Rummy.
Can you explain to me how your Family Game Night works exactly? Do you ask people to BRING board games, do you purchase them and keep them at the school?
Do you do games other than just BOARD games?
We're going to serve (free) hot dogs so should they eat first and then play? How does it work, do you just walk up to someone you don't know and say "May I play Monopoly with you?"
I know these sound like dumb questions, but I've never been to one of these and I'm clueless!
Any help, ideas, suggestions appreciated!
