Our elementary school (3-5) will be having a talent show in May. We're encouraging not only students but parents and staff to participate as well. Our PTO board is wanting to do something as well, but we need performance ideas, please! I can come up with some skits from like church camp WAY back when (like someone sticks their arms through shorts/pants as the legs as another uses their arms for that person's arms, then they apply makeup, eat, etc.)...what other ideas does anyone have???
This would be so much fun---I love it!
Please tell me, how in the world do you get the teachers and staff to participate in an after hours event like this? I know the kids would love this but getting the teacher acts would be a tough one for us!!
Last family reunion we did a funny skit of sincronized swimming and the time before that we put spoons on our noses. We need something funny since we really do not have any talent!
We did our first Talent Show last year and it was
a HUGE success but it was for students, not teachers/staff. I posted posted lengthy details about it last spring, if you still find that somehow on this website.
I agree with some of the above posters, you need to limit the time of the act (ours was 3 minutes) and divide the age groups, if you have students perform. We had a "Junior Talent Show" (grades 1-3) and then a regular Talent Show that started a little later.
The kids loved it. My daughter still asks about it. Do a search on the internet under "Talent Show Rules" or something like that and you'll get lots of hits.
Good luck!

Sandy we did one last year (our first year as a PTO) and the parents and children LOVED IT. We broke it down into 2 nights 3-5 and K-2. We did a limit on the time for the performance and also had a very strict rule that you had to attend the rehearsal in order to actually perform. Our POC had a sound system donated for t he night and we set up a concession stand for the duration. It was really fun and our only issue was noise control so I think we'll limit concessions to the break in the middle, before and after.
Our staff acts were sprinkled throughout and they were a lot of fun too. This year I think we may do a PTO act with wrapping paper tubes and a PTO Drill team...ha
