We also took pics. They had a background set up & took Dad/Mom's picture with the kids. Charged for the photo ($5/ea) - it was GREAT!!!
Just an idea for speakers...
What about someone talking about the importance of dads participating in their chidlrens school and what it does for test scores etc. I think there is someone else on this board writing just such a paper. Or the principal could deliver it.
Or what about the PTO talking about what it wants to accomplish for the year and how to get it their involvement would help?
We have to have a speaker when we do ours. I really can't think of anything male related off the top of my head except prostate cancer. If I were a dad I don't think I'd want to eat donuts and listen to that particular subject. Help!!!!
We've only done DwD once so far (another one is planned for next Friday), but we didn't have any kind of program at all. All we wanted to do is get the dads in the building to visit with their kids and the other dads, and see the classrooms. We allocated the 50 minutes before class for our event. Frankly, it took quite a few minutes to get everyone through the donut line and with 250 people in the cafeteria, the noise level was pretty high. I don't see how we could have gotten everyone's attention for a formal program. We kept the event very simple and it worked great.
