We serve pretty basic concessions at our Spring Fling - which includes a sock hop. (Pizza, popcorn, soft drinks, bottle water).
Do you have a Dairy Queen in your town? The one in our area will come to school functions and sell Blizzards (sort of like a thick milkshake) for $2 with the host organization keeping $1. I had my doubts, thinking that was kind of expensive. But they sold about 100 of them. The store that does it here makes them in advance, so it's only two flavors (Oreo Cookie and something else). They bring them in a freezer.
Or - it would be pretty easy to make and sell Rootbeer/Coke Floats.
Hi! Our school is a combination elementary/middle school. Our school has a Sock Hop every year to celebrate the end of the standardized testing week. We have a DJ, and we serve pizza and soda. The dance lasts about three hours and we have a door prize drawing every half hour. The door prizes are small, usually a $10 gift card to the movies or something like that. It is a huge success every year.
Btw, we don't charge an entrance fee...this dance is a gift from the PTO. We charge for the concessions and the middle schoolers work the concession stand. The profits made in the concessions sales are given to the middle school for their big spring trip.
My husband and I are hosting our first sock hop at our girls' elementary school in May. For those of you who have "been there - done that", I would LOVE any helpful suggestions. We have a DJ and MC (music is covered) - BUT...what kind of food should be available?...or decorations?
Thank you in advance!
