We just did the same thing and had a great turn out. I booked lats of guest readers and asked them to bring their favorite stories and had cookies and milk. The kids loved it we had teachers, town officals,a police officer, a fireman, women from the library, our superintendent, and our principla of course. We also made it pajama day that day at school to get them excited and they loved it!! Hoope yours goes well.
LOVE this idea. Maybe you could hold a raffle every half hour, with the prize being a book. Maybe you could get your volunteers to dress up as their favorite literary character. I would ask people to bring snacks (cookies, cupcakes, juice, etc), so that you don't have to pay for those things. Hmmm....I'll be thinking.
Your idea is so cool! Maybe for the older kids a scavenger (did I spell that right? Oh, well.)hunt through out the school. I'm sure that would increase the number of volunteers you would need-so it might not be possible. We are a K-5 school and the 5th graders get so board with many of the activities-just a thought. Good Luck!
hello all! we are trying something new this spring for our family event to go with the scholastic book fair. we are having a pajama party where the kids can come in their pajamas with teddy bears and all! i'm just wondering if anyone has done anything like this before. it looks like we will have about 160 people(not all children) in total and we're trying to see what we can do for them. they'll be read to by various staff and teachers while the parents can shop the book fair. we're providing popcorn and a crayon activity table for the little ones. does anyone else have any ideas? thanks so much!
