Just to add something to what you are already doing, we are doing READING UNDER THE STARS. It's a dark room with glow in the dark stars, flash lights and kids go in with their parents to read with a flash light! We are having an OPEN MIC near the food tent so that students can recite their favorite poem. Hope to use some of your ideas in our Reading is Magic Night too!
I think it sounds like a great idea. We've had various "pajama" events in our school - always just plain, clean fun. But I was really surprised one year that there was a small contingent of parent very opposed to this idea - feeling that it was totally inappropriate.
And we do sometimes run into the fact that girls'
nightware is too thin/transparent. Not that the clothing is "sexy", but just the material so thin.
I remember one year when my daughter was in Kinder or 1st, I let her wear her favorite Beauty and the Beast Nightie, but only with a slip under it!
Any, you may need to be prepared for the handful of parents who don't support the idea.
I am planning on having all the teachers select their favorite bedtime stories and have them read for 20 min each then have time for the parents to move to another teacher and hear their story. How ever long you planned on having it the kids could hear several stories. Then at the end have cookies and milk or something of the like before they leave. Hope you have a great time and let us know how it goes!
What a wonderful idea!! Im so glad that I found this site. I was just nominated for vice president and I look forward to trying some new things this year!
We do this every year and have a pancake supper along with the book fair. We charge $2.00 per person for the pancake supper. It's called Pancakes and Pajamas. We have a large turnout (probably 100 families) every year. We get guests readers for each grade level and have a short program on the importance of reading with your children. The kids love it and a lot of the parents even come in their pajamas!
