In our PTO the Room Parents jobs are:
1)organize volunteers for school functions
2)plan both class parties for the year
3)assist teacher with home communications, getting supplies, etc.)
4)do 2 fun activities per year with the class (not party related)

My last school called them Room Coordinators. We did have dad's, grandparents, caregivers, etc on the list so it worked great!

We're in a new town, new school - 7th & 8th grade. I don't think they do and RC stuff. At least I haven't seen anything about it.

I kinda like Room Muthas! hehehe

Room captain, chief, chieftain, commander, dean, dignitary, doyen, eminence, luminary, maestro, rector, skipper, ambassador, consul, dean.

The above titles might get you more men as homeroom parent, if I may be so P un-C!!

Room Person sounds pretty PC to me. Some people are not parents, but guardians/caregivers.
