Here in NYS they go out to the public if someone is living in the area and is a sex offender. They go out to all the residents, schools, etc so we have them posted all the time. And it states there name, residence, crime commited, age, and a picture.
If he went to the Catholic school he might have been viloating his parole here in NYS you can't go within so many feet of a school if your a sex offender of a certain level.
I would check with your police dept.

Interesting discussion, but just like on some other threads lately, seems this is a matter that only concerns the principl/school and district, seeing as like its not the PTO who posted the guys photo on the PTO website or is putting his photo into kids cubbies via the teacher mail home.
the only persons who should be concerned about the felons 'rights' to antidefamation or slander/libel or whatever (and not suggesting any of the above apply since these photos are on the web and public info except in six dorky states which oreilly loves to hate and i am with him) are the buildings jurisdiction legal people, ie the distrcit legal folks. thats my guess anyway.

We have a child registered who's father is a RSO and on all the maps you pull up (watchdog etc). JUST FYI...you may be opening yourself up to liability if you unduly harrass him. That is something we found out as we considered our options on how to proceed. While it didn't make much difference to us given what else could happen, I wouldn't put my name or organizations name on any of the photos posted....

Last year the parent groups in our district with approval of the principals distributed info about all registered sex offenders in our community. The parents were given info on the state registry site and Watchdog.com. We have to protect our children.
please don't misunderstand me- I wasn't saying I was on the sex offenders side! Getting the source of photo & info. would just inform you of why, when & how to protect our children in a legal manner.
