And contact local sports teams and sportshops-- the Buffalo Bills should be able to spring for a few of those humongous Buffalo Bills rugs sold in the sports catalogs (not sure of the size) but instant PR and lifelong Bills Adverstisment and new fans (maybe the Bills will be good by the time all those kids are old enough2 buy Tix)

I know this is not an 8x10 area rug but last year our kindergarten classes were asking for something for the floor for the kids to sit on and well maybe this will work for you if you can call and find a carpet store willing to make a donation--we contacted a carpet store and they sold us carpet squares ( the ones they used for display purposes only--so they were new looking) we bought 50 for $1 a piece and well more teachers thought this was a great idea instead of kids sitting on the floor and so we called to purchase more squaeres and the owner ended up donating us all he had left--it filled the back of my mini van up. So maybe check around with your carpet stores and hey if they want 8x10 rugs maybe tape some together or something--it never hurts to ask stores for things--you never know what they may have stored in the back.
I agree with Crewchief. IF it's in your budget than go for it!
Our PTG has purchased many things for our teachers. Last year we bought new desks for 2 of our teachers because a local company backed out of giving us 2 desks and the teachers needed something to start the year off.
But, our by-laws indicate if any purchase amounts to over $200.00 it has to be voted on at the next meeting! Hope this helps!
