we put teachers and principal on the dunk tank and kids pay $ to try to put em in the water. its a scream. kids get to choose who to try to dunk. parents can do it too, but have to pay more $$$$ since they are better aims.
One idea that we did at our school, and the kids absolutely loved it, was to have a "jail." The kids could pay $.25 or $.50 to place someone in jail. That person had to stay in jail for 2 minutes. The jail's base were bales of hay and the walls were made of a thin wood gates.
One other year, they changed it where kids could pay to have school teachers, staff, principal, etc. put in jail. It was $1.00 to have them placed in jail and $.25 to have them exit jail. The staff were game for this idea and were good sports about it. Many participated.
It was interesting to see which faculty member was placed in jail the most....LOL.
They make an area surrounded by hay bales with a couple in the middle. Then they sell cans of silly string for a dollar a can. Then they let them in to the arena and they spray the other people in the arena. The occasional parent watching gets sprayed. It is ALOT of fun.
We do a "pumpkin patch" carnival. Last year we even had a booth to throw pie at the principal. We earned qutie a bit of money, but it is a lot of work. It was alot of fun! Fifth graders did face painting to earn money toward camp. We also had a silent auction, games, concessions, and a pumpkin patch to purchase pumpkins. We had a blast. We do ours in mid to late October. One school in our area does a silly string arena and thy make a ton of money!
