I've tried to keep up but I got lost in the middle somewhere. I'm beginning to think that your next step depends on how you answer this question:
Does the issue conflict with PTO work in any way?
If so, do what you can to help resolve it so the work can continue. PTO and Admin staff should work together to make things better and return focus to the important things - like the school and the children.
OR
Is it merely a personal conflict between two strong willed adults?
Then stay out of it altogether. The fact that they're PTO members should have nothing to do with the conflict resolution. If they're using their contacts just so they have more people on their side then they're dragging you and your whole group down. Don't allow it.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."
"The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat but in the true perfection of one's character."
You do have a choice, however you must pick one and stay go with it, you can't continue to sit on the fence. Talk to those involved and get it worked out OR cut your losses and forget it. Either way don't dwell on it. Get on with your life, haggling is not worth it. The stress will do you in. Life is short, enjoy it!
maybe consider deferring the whole matter to yuor pto president and just step aside. doesnt sound like its anything you personally shoudl be dealing with from waht youve said here.
I think things were said in the heat of the moment and that's how I came involved. I am a board member myself and since the PTO member came to me I became involved. The principal asked me my thoughts and I agreeded with the PTO member so that's how I feel that the other board members will blame me for not staying with the "group" You're right, I should atten the meeting, speak with dignity, keep my sanity and just get out of this PTO all together! Thanks for all of your posts! Summer couldn't come any sooner!!
