Have you made it known to your parents that this fundraiser may be going away due to lack of volunteers? A few years ago we had a probelm getting volunteers to seek donations for our spring carnival raffle. I finally got tired of begging people and just announced that the raffle would not be happening. I had three volunteers in one afternoon!
Also, do they have age restrictions on who can work the concessions or would you be able to utilize parent/child teams?
Hello All. Yes, I am new to PTO Today, and I am also a first time PTO President. I have a 7th grade daughter, so needless to say I am involved in a middle school PTO. We are having a hard time getting parent to volunteer for our biggest fundraiser and I need suggestions. We work with the Bradley Center, which houses all of our college & professional basketball games. Our school works a concession stand during basketball games and we get a percent of the profits. It brings in about $10-15K a year. We have been doing this since 1988. Well, our volunteer list is really short this year and we are having a hard time getting parents to help out. We are in danger of losing this fundraiser. We already pay for parking passes (because it's downtown and parking is expensive) and a 15 min break along with a meal allowance is provided. We need 12 parents per event, and we are scheduled 25 games this year. Any ideas on how we can increase participation or any other alternative fundraisers (besides Mr Z's type fundraisers) that we could try that may bring in the same amount of money?
