I like the idea of a weekly/bi-weekly e-mail note - keeps everyone informed and is another opportunity to publically thanks people.
We do a number of mostly easy solcial gatherings through the year. Here are a few.
The easiest one is a Family Game night. Whoever wants to come brings a favorite game to share with others. The kids get to make new friends and so do the parents. It is real low key.
One that takes a bit more work is our Book Mania Night. It started as a simple book swap (bring a few books you don't want anymore; go home with a few books you want to try) and you can start there. It has expanded to include crafts, a raffle, and story time with guest readers (of course the principal and teachers but we have also had the Mayor and a local beauty queen).
During the summer, there is an informal group of school families that go to an ice cream shop across from the school once a week after dinner.
Ohohooo (Tigger Would Say)
Can I jump on the 'ME Too' wagon and get copies from you sweet, lovely, beautiful ladies on this board of your sample emails.
Thnx,
Shawn
