Thanks everyone! I did learn today that her daughter will be attending school closer to Dad's, still want to help with school supplies as her "big sister" still works at our school.
Kelley- I will call WalMart but I also have a buddy that owes me one (I BBQed lunch for his staff during a crazy weekend sale) I'm thinking backpack or winter coat!
I just wish I didn't wear this big heart on my sleave
Our local news stations will do a brief story on this and then announce the bank account during their broadcast- sometimes several times. Can you open an account and maybe approach your local news stations?
Sorry to hear about the rough time the school is having. I think you are doing the right things. I am sure there is plenty of people that will be there to help you. Most people will lend a hand when they can. You can also talk to Walmart they will donate at least $25 gift card at least you can buy some supplies there. You just need to fill paper out and give them a date you need it by you will have to probally wait till at least a july date to get it but still. I like the idea of opening an account at a bank for her.
Yeah, but it's for a good cause and you have a big heart. Sometimes it just takes someone to get the ball rolling. There may be others that want to help but don't know what/how to do it.
Thanks ladies... while I live outside of Denver, our kids attend a small charter school so it's like a small community.
I will be contacting my other moms to see how they want to help but I know the school suppiles, shoes, backpack, etc. will be her big sister's main concerns (they always have been). Shoot, I'm will to use my discount at a sporting goods store to purchase tennies and or a backpack!
You know that feeling when you think you just bit off more.......my teeth hurt!
Sorry to hear about the hard year your school is having. No, I don't think you're doing too much. Is there anyway that you could open a saving/checking account with one of the banks in your area and get the info out to the community? That way any donations can be anonymous and it would show support from the community instead of just the school, even though that is where most of the donations will come from?
