This was the first year that our school started logging hours, they are done all together. We have a strong parent group and wanted the emphasis on the whole school not just the group. We have alot of great regular volunteers in other areas than pto related. We also set a year goal and have a chart on the main wall in the lobby showing the hours accumulating. It's next to our volunteer picture board and profile wall, all new this year. sorry I got off your subject but it is something to consider doing, it has gotten great response for the first year! The pictures are some goofy and some serious but all year I have been snapping volunteer pictures as i catch them.
We submit all volunteer hours together. We have few PTO members but lots of community volunteers to read to children in our school.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
In our school, PTO hours are counted in with volunteer hours. We have more parents that volunteer in the classroom then at PTO meetings. There we only average 10 parents.
are the PTO hours counted in with the volunteers that work in the classrooms? Some of our classroom volunteers don't participate much in the PTO and some of our PTO members are not able to participate in the classroom.
