I've lived in Indiana (born in Indy), Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Arizona and now California. Florida wouldnt be too bad plus its run by a Republican and not a @&#$()(%)%*% state (dont know if I can post a slam on what I think of California's views (which aren't the same as mine and THe Governator)

It just checked with our Volunteer Coordinator this morning and she ran a report with me sitting there.
We have 381 active parents this year. Meaning all 381 have volunteered some way this year.
Those 381 volunteers this year raked in 21,583 hours in service for our school. We have 952 children attending.
That is the jobs for 540 people. Based on a 40 hour week divided by 21,583 hours.
That saves our County/State $250,000 or more per year.
I am one of those volunteers who lives at the school and brings things home to do when the kids go to bed. Thank goodness my Husband understands!
Yep at our school a volunteer is a volunteer. The PTO used to have a program that kept up with hours and such for every volunteer.
Pals, I suggested that idea one time. Are you th one that has some type of slogan on your volunteer board? It never happened. I really wanted to do it when I was vol cooridnator.
Some kids started a "newspaper" one year. I thought it would be nice to have a volunteer spot light in that or even a PTO newsletter. Our new supt. this year wanted to recognize a volunteer from each school (we only have 5 schools).
