Stressed out in Parent Involvement

I just came from a Spring Break outig yesterday with a bunch of Moms who basically laughed at me. I was saying how I would like to create more PArent Involvment in our PTO and I have some pretty neat ideas. They said not to count on them because they can't "Commit." These same Moms can "commit" to ladies night out or 1 weekend a month they stay over night somewhere but the PTO just doesn't fit in. I tried to explain what we were doing for the next year and they said to call them when it gets closer and if nobody else will do it. I am so tierd of asking for parents to help. Some say they'll join for numbers sake but helping and being involved are two differnt things. I have this same prolem with T-ball, basketball, Cub Scouts. It's the same dozen parents every year. Why do parents just want to drop off their kids and come back to get them. Do they not know the kids love it when they ARE there and they see their parents watchhing or helping out. I have 4 boys and they would be so upset if I wasn't at school for something. Sorry to be so long, but this really bothers me.
