Get a group of parents together and attend the next town council and school board meetings and DEMAND details. I have been part of groups of concerned parents who have gotten actively involved in school budget and other issues. You can make a difference! Sadly, you may find out that there is no other option for your school district, but getting the information and being able to analyze it yourself can at the very least help you understand the situation. Maybe you or another parent may see a better way of handling the budget crunch! Good luck!
I did that and the super says the town council is talking about and the town council said the super is talking about it. The school budget is being pushed to the last penny, we need busses, a new middle school is being built, the high school is being revamped, blah, blah, blah...they want to cut 15 teaching positions and our school has 13!
You should go to your superintendent and the board of Ed to find out the facts. Do not rely on rumors. Get the facts and then make a decision on what you want to do about it.
There are rumors flying about the district closing our school, enlarging the classes in the other elementary schools and bussing our kids to those other schools. Does anybody know how we start our "fight" against this? Where do I find info? Who can I start talking to? Anything will help!
