Our general mail out we did before school started was a great way to cover a million questions, and inform our parents of the basics. We do so many things for our school, that its hard to list them all in one page. We did multiple pages...with sort of themes. Our welcome letter was the front page, we then had a committee page, with a list of all the committees, their job duties and a rough outline of commitment time for each. We then had our "Where Does Your Money Go" sheet. This was basically a list of the things that PTO purchased for the school last year. We included all the field trips we helped fund, the money toward our playground expansion, the money to tech and media center, the school nurse, music instructional items, art department, etc. etc. We also included a survey asking parents what they wanted from their PTO, a volunteer sign in sheet, and a PTO membership form. These were all sent out before Meet the Teacher Night, and that way parents could fill everything out at home, and bring it in with them. It raised our membership percentage by a huge number...nearly 45%!!
in our welcome letter I introduded myself and beacuse i am the new PTO pres then I named the other officers. Then said what we Bought for the school last year, then I added the PTO callander of events and we kicked off a contest for the kids. Than thanked them for all there help.

To Mytwosons.
A Friend Finder is a booklet that consists of the entire schools class roster lists as well as each students name, class, parent name, address, parents e-mail address and phone. I put this together as part of membership and print them at work (ssh...don't tell my boss). Parents are asked if they want their information published and any that wish to join but be omitted are obliged. Getting a friend finder is a 'perk' for joining our HSA.
